剧情：
清明时节，梁绍宗利用春假随父亲梁道宗归乡扫墓，住在孀居的姑母家中。姑母只有一女，名叫林芬，青梅竹马的表兄妹见面，分外高兴。
时值军阀混战，战火殃及林芬家乡，林芬惨遭奸污，不久，道宗将林芬母女接进城，准备为绍宗和林芬完婚。林芬心存不安，将所有的情况写了一封信给绍宗，不料信被绍宗的弟弟藏起，林芬以为绍宗已经了解了情况，并且能够接受，于是同意结婚。新婚之夜，道宗无意中看到了这封信，大怒，执意退婚。但绍宗了解了事实真相后，依然带林芬离开家庭，去开创新的生活。
